A veil rests on her hair, but it lets a long wavy mane escape and fall over her shoulder, which sets this model apart from all the others. Her hands are joined before her, fingers pressed together in prayer; her dress, with its embroidered bodice, shows beneath the tunic. A halo drawn in a single line closes the composition. She is a young Virgin, almost a girl, and her gesture of prayer, raised towards the Heaven she looks upon, gives this Virgin Mary medal a very gentle fervour.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eA christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLike all our gold medals, the Virgin in Prayer is made by stamping: the 750\/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, which gives the hair and the drapery their fineness, then given a satin finish. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package.
