Saint John Cathedral Lyon Rosette
This Rosette Medal depicts Saint John Cathedral (also called the Primatial Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist and Saint Stephen) located in Lyon, more precisely in the medieval quarter of old Lyon.
This medal is crafted in natural jewellery-grade mother-of-pearl and set in 18-karat gold. It is 100% made in France and each Saint John Cathedral rosette is the fruit of many hours of manual work... It is a complex design that demands great mastery and meticulousness from our engraver.
This rose window is nicknamed the rose window of the setting sun, because it is of an almost surreal beauty when the sun is sinking. It then takes on a warm yellow colour reminiscent of gold.
It is also commonly called the "rose window of the Lamb" because of the Lamb that appears at its centre.
We owe the creation of this incredible rose window, dating from 1394, to Henri de Nivelle. An incredible work that we wished to honour by creating, with meticulous care and hard work, this mother-of-pearl rosette set in gold
