Saint Joan of Arc is an 18-karat yellow gold christening medal depicting the Maid of Orléans in armour, on horseback, bearing her fleur-de-lis standard.

A young girl in armour, the standard in the wind

Joan is seen half-length, in full armour, holding her horse's reins in one hand and, in the other, the staff of her standard struck with fleurs-de-lis. The horse, its head turned, fills the whole right side of the medal. This is Joan the warrior, who lifted the siege of Orléans in 1429 and led Charles VII to be crowned at Reims, before being burned at Rouen in 1431 and canonised in 1920. Secondary patron saint of France, she is a natural choice for a girl named Jeanne, and a medal that speaks of courage as much as of faith.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold

Like all our gold medals, Saint Joan of Arc is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, which gives the armour and the standard their crispness, then given a satin finish. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. Exclusive Manufacture Mayaud design, registered design filed with the INPI, made in France.

Diameter, engraving and variations

The 16 mm is the christening size; the 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. Saint Joan of Arc is available in gold and mother-of-pearl and in solid silver, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
