This second Rosa Mystica is an 18-karat yellow gold christening medal depicting the Virgin Mary in profile, between two garlands of roses, beneath her engraved title.

A Virgin Mary among the roses

Mary is seen in profile, turned to the right, a veil resting on her hair and falling to the bottom of the medal; behind her, a halo engraved in fine rays. On either side of the portrait, two garlands of roses climb along the edge, with their leaves and buds, almost meeting beneath the inscription ROSA MYSTICA engraved in an arc at the top. Mystical Rose is one of the titles of the Litany of Loreto; here, our sculptor took it at its word and gave Mary her garden. It is the most flowery of our Virgin Mary medals, and one of the richest in relief: every rose is modelled.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold

Like all our gold medals, this Rosa Mystica is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, which renders every rose and every letter with the same crispness, then given a satin finish. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. Made in France, in our workshop.

Diameter, engraving and variations

The 16 mm is the christening size; the 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. This Rosa Mystica is available in gold and mother-of-pearl and in solid silver, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
