The Holy Family

The Holy Family is a christening medal in 18-karat yellow gold depicting Mary, Joseph and the Infant Jesus together, in a gesture of shared tenderness.

Mary, Joseph and the Child

Mary, a veil over her hair, holds the Child nestled against her, cheek to cheek. Joseph, at her side, inclines his head towards them and holds a lily in his free hand, the traditional attribute of his purity. The three halos overlap in a fine line. It is the image of the family of Nazareth, model of the Christian family, readily given for a christening as for a wedding or a birth. This model comes from Manufacture Mayaud's historic collection; it places the child, or the new household, under the protection of this united family.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold

Like all our gold medals, The Holy Family is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, which gives the three faces their crispness, then satin-finished. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. Exclusive Manufacture Mayaud model, registered with the INPI, made in France.

Diameter, engraving and variations

The 16 mm is the christening size; the 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. The Holy Family is available in gold and mother-of-pearl, in solid silver, in silver and mother-of-pearl, in gold plate and in an Excellence version struck in a thicker gold blank, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
