The Miraculous Virgin

The Miraculous Virgin is the most widespread Marian medal in the world, and our solid silver version reproduces it faithfully, as it was requested at the rue du Bac, Paris, in 1830.

The medal of the rue du Bac

On the front, Mary stands on the globe, her arms open downwards, her hands radiant with graces, her foot crushing the serpent; around her runs the prayer she herself dictated: "O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee", and beneath her feet the date, 1830. On the back, the M of Mary surmounted by a cross, surrounded by twelve stars, and below the two Hearts, that of Jesus crowned with thorns and that of Mary pierced by a sword. Every element comes from the vision of Catherine Labouré, a novice of the Daughters of Charity, on 27 November 1830, in the chapel of the rue du Bac; the medal struck two years later was so quickly associated with graces that it was called miraculous. Rhodium-plated solid silver, struck like gold

This medal is struck in solid 925/1000 silver under the same engraved dies, front and back, as its gold version: the same relief, just as crisp, the silver medal being thicker. It is rhodium-plated: the rhodium layer protects the silver from oxidation, so the medal does not tarnish and needs no care. Made in France.

Seven heights, for every age

Seven oval heights, excluding the bail: 9 and 11 mm for a newborn or a bracelet, 13 and 15 mm for a christening and childhood, 17 and 19 mm for adult wear, 21 mm as a pendant. As the back is entirely engraved with the monogram and the stars, this medal cannot be personalised. It is also available in 18-karat yellow gold. To be worn on a solid silver trace or curb chain.
