Mater Divinae Gratia

Mater Divinae Gratia is a christening medal in 18-karat yellow gold depicting the Virgin and Child seated on a throne, in a garden, beneath her engraved Latin title: Mother of Divine Grace.

A Virgin and Child in majesty

It is the richest of our Virgin and Child medals. Mary is seated facing forward on a throne whose uprights and ornate back are visible, a veil over her hair, a halo behind her head; she holds the Child nestled on her lap, who looks straight ahead, his hand raised. On either side, leafy branches rise to the edge of the medal, and across the top runs the inscription MATER DIVINAE GRATIAE, one of the invocations of the Litany of Loreto. Throne, garden, inscription: our sculptor composed a true scene, in the manner of altarpieces, where every plane has its relief. A christening medal for those who love old, richly worked medals.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold

Like all our gold medals, Mater Divinae Gratia is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, the only technique that renders throne, foliage and letters together with this precision, then satin-finished. The gold weight is 2.95 g in 18 mm. Made in France, in our workshop.

Engraving and variations

Offered in 18 mm, the classic size for a christening medal, the one worn for a lifetime. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. Mater Divinae Gratia is available in gold and mother-of-pearl, in solid silver, in silver and mother-of-pearl, in vermeil and in gold plate, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
