The Lilies Medal

Les Lys is an 18-karat yellow gold christening medal made to be engraved: a branch of lilies in bloom, a radiant star, and a wide smooth field awaiting a first name, a date or a monogram.

A branch of lilies, a star, and room for a name

The branch of lilies rises along the left edge, buds and open flowers carved in relief, and falls back at the bottom of the medal; at the top right, a star radiates. All the rest of the face is left smooth, on purpose: this is where the child's first name, the date of their christening or their interlaced initials are engraved, as on the family medals of old. The lily is the flower of the Virgin Mary, a symbol of purity; the star, the one that guided the Magi to the Child. A discreet medal, with no figure, that becomes entirely personal.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold

Like all our gold medals, Les Lys is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, which gives the flowers their relief, then given a satin finish. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. Made in France, in our workshop.

Diameter, engraving and variations

The 16 mm is the christening size; the 18 mm, the classic size. The engraving — first name, date, initials or monogram — is carried out in the workshop with the engraving package, on the face as on the reverse. Les Lys is available in gold and mother-of-pearl, in solid silver, in silver and mother-of-pearl and in gold plate, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
