Saint Christopher

Saint Christopher is a christening medal in 18-karat yellow gold depicting the patron of travellers crossing a river, the Infant Jesus on his shoulder and a staff in his hand.

A giant who carries the Child

Christopher is seen in three-quarter view, kneeling in the water, a simple tunic knotted at the waist, the staff planted before him for support. On his shoulder, the Infant Jesus, haloed, one hand resting on his head. Behind them, the banks and the mountains close the landscape. Legend tells that Christopher, a colossus, carried travellers across a river; a child he took on his back grew heavier with each step, until he understood he was carrying Christ, who carries the weight of the world. Since then, Saint Christopher has been the patron of travellers, and his medal slips into a pocket or is worn at the neck before a departure.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold

Like all our gold medals, Saint Christopher is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, for a crisp and lasting relief, then satin-finished. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. Exclusive Manufacture Mayaud model, registered with the INPI, made in France.

Diameter, engraving and variations

The 16 mm is the christening size; the 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package.
