Saint Michael Medal

Saint Michael is an 18-karat yellow gold christening medal depicting the Archangel Michael, wings spread, vanquishing the dragon.

An archangel who vanquishes the dragon

Michael is seen face on, wings widely spread, a halo behind his head, a shield on his left arm engraved with the Latin inscription QUIS UT DEUS, "Who is like God", the cry attributed to the archangel in his battle against the forces of evil; at his feet, the vanquished dragon writhes beneath him. It is the warrior archangel of the Apocalypse, chief of the heavenly armies. Saint Michael is the patron of soldiers, police officers and of France itself, one of whose protector saints he is, since the voices of Joan of Arc. This shield engraved with Quis ut Deus is an emblematic design of Manufacture Mayaud, an exclusive registered design filed with the INPI, of which we are very proud.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold

Like all our gold medals, Saint Michael is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, which gives the wings and the armour their relief, then given a satin finish. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm, 2.90 g in 18 mm and 3.60 g in 20 mm. Made in France, in our workshop.

Diameter, engraving and variations

The 16 mm is the christening size, the 18 mm the classic size, the 20 mm a more assertive size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. Saint Michael is available in gold and mother-of-pearl, in solid silver and in an Excellence version struck in a thicker gold blank, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
