Virgin and Blessing Child Medal

In solid silver, the Blessing Virgin and Child keeps everything that makes the model: the Child, presented by his mother, opens his arms wide to bless.

A Virgin and Child who blesses, in silver

Mary is seen in three-quarter view, a veil over her hair, a radiant halo behind her head; she holds the Child before her, one hand beneath him. He, upright, arms spread wide, looks straight ahead, haloed with rays as well. It is not the mother who is at the centre of the scene but the Child's gesture: the open arms of the one who welcomes and blesses. Our sculptor gave both halos the same design, like a single shared light, which the satin silver renders crisply.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in solid silver

Like our gold medals, the Blessing Virgin and Child is made by stamping: the solid 925/1000 silver blank is struck under the same engraved die as the gold version, giving exactly the same relief, just as crisp; the silver medal is thicker. Rhodium-plated, the silver does not tarnish and needs no care. The silver weighs 3.60 g in 18 mm. Made in France, in our workshop.

Diameter, engraving and variations

Offered in 18 mm, the classic size for a christening medal. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. The Blessing Virgin and Child is also available in 18-karat yellow gold, in gold and mother-of-pearl, in silver and mother-of-pearl and in gold plate, to be worn on a solid silver trace chain or curb chain.
