Crowned Virgin and Child Medal

The Crowned Virgin and Child is a christening medal in 18-karat yellow gold depicting Mary crowned, her long hair loose, holding the sleeping Child against her.

Mary wears a crown, a chased diadem set on long wavy hair that falls freely over her shoulders, without a veil: this is what sets this model apart from all the others. Her eyes lowered, she inclines her face towards the Child, nestled in her arms, swaddled, his head resting against her breast, asleep. A brooch fastens her tunic at the shoulder. The crown speaks of the Queen of Heaven; the loose hair and lowered gaze speak of the mother. Our sculptor held the two together, and that is what makes the nobility of this christening medal: maternal love in majesty.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold

Like all our gold medals, the Crowned Virgin and Child is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, which gives the hair and the crown their delicacy, then satin-finished. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. Made in France, in our workshop.

Diameter, engraving and variations

The 16 mm is the christening size; the 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. The Crowned Virgin and Child is available in gold and mother-of-pearl, in solid silver, in silver and mother-of-pearl, in vermeil and in gold plate, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
