Virgin in Prayer Medal
The Virgin in Prayer is a gold-plated christening medal depicting the Virgin Mary in profile, hands joined, her long wavy hair loose beneath the veil.
A Virgin Mary with loose hair
Mary is in profile, her face raised, her gaze turned to Heaven. A veil is set on her hair, but it lets a long wavy mane escape down her shoulder, which sets this model apart from all the others. Her hands are joined before her, fingers pressed in prayer; her dress, with its embroidered bodice, can be glimpsed beneath the tunic. A halo of a simple line closes the composition. A young Virgin, almost a girl, whose gesture of prayer raised to Heaven gives the medal a very gentle fervour.
Mayaud gold plate
This medal is made in Mayaud gold plate: a French-made solid gilded brass base, struck under the same engraved die as the gold version, covered with a 3-micron layer of 18-karat (750/1000) gold. Made in our Paris workshop.
Diameter, engraving and variations
Offered in 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. The Virgin in Prayer is also available in solid yellow gold, in gold and mother-of-pearl, in solid silver and in silver and mother-of-pearl.
