Notre Dame de la Tendresse

Notre Dame de la Tendresse is a gold-plated christening medal depicting the Virgin and Child cheek to cheek: a young mother, absorbed, protecting a sleeping child.

A Virgin and Child drawn to speak of maternal love

Mary is seen in profile, her head covered with a veil whose folds fall in broad waves. Her eyes lowered, she inclines her face towards the Child, whom she holds nestled against her cheek: he sleeps, his head thrown back, a hand resting on her. The whole design lies in this contact of the two faces; the ground is left smooth, without inscription or decoration. What this Virgin shows, every parent recognises: the weight of a sleeping baby against oneself, the moment when one holds one's breath so as not to wake him. Our sculptor did not seek a Virgin in majesty but a young mother. Exclusive Manufacture Mayaud design, registered.

Mayaud gold plate

This medal is made in Mayaud gold plate: a French-made solid gilded brass base, struck under the same engraved die as the gold version, covered with a 3-micron layer of 18-karat (750/1000) gold. Made in our Paris workshop.

Diameter, engraving and variations

Offered in 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. Notre Dame de la Tendresse is also available in solid yellow gold, in gold and mother-of-pearl, in solid silver, in silver and mother-of-pearl and in an Excellence version in gold.
