Virgin and Child Amour Maternel

Maternal Love is a gold-plated christening medal depicting the Virgin and Child with their faces very close, the Child's little hand resting beneath his mother's chin.

A Virgin and Child, face to face

Mary is seen in profile, a veil over her hair falling on her shoulders, a bead-edged halo behind her head. She has inclined her face until it almost touches the Child's, nestled in her arms, who raises his eyes to her and rests his little hand beneath her chin, as if to hold her. The two gazes meet a few millimetres apart. The name of the model says what the relief shows: nothing but a mother's love for her child, and his for her. Our sculptor took care over the faces and the little hand, which catches the light at the centre. Exclusive Manufacture Mayaud creation, registered design.

Mayaud gold plate

This medal is made in Mayaud gold plate: a French-made solid gilded brass base, struck under the same engraved die as the gold version, covered with a 3-micron layer of 18-karat (750/1000) gold. Made in our Paris workshop.

Diameter, engraving and variations

Offered in 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. Maternal Love is also available in solid yellow gold, in gold and mother-of-pearl, in solid silver and in silver and mother-of-pearl.
