Notre Dame

Notre Dame is a christening medal in jewellery-grade mother-of-pearl rimmed in solid silver, bringing together the Virgin of Tenderness within the tracery of the Notre-Dame de Paris rose window.

The Virgin of Tenderness, within Notre-Dame's tracery

At the centre, Mary, a long veil over her hair, inclines her face towards the Child she holds close against her, cheek to cheek, eyes closed: it is the Virgin of Tenderness, one of the gentlest images in our collection. Our sculptor surrounded her with the radiating tracery of the Notre-Dame de Paris rose window, whose flame-shaped lancets draw a halo of Gothic light around the scene. Two Manufacture Mayaud skills thus meet on a single medal: the carving of the Virgin and Child, and the transposition into mother-of-pearl of a cathedral rose window's tracery, a technique for which we are the only workshop in the world. The silver rim almost melts into the whiteness of the mother-of-pearl.

Jewellery-grade mother-of-pearl, rimmed in solid silver

Natural extra-white mother-of-pearl of jewellery grade, carved in our workshop and set in a rhodium-plated solid 925/1000 silver rim, bail included, from 1.00 g of silver in 20 mm to 1.20 g in 24 mm. Rim in polished finish. Made to order in our Paris workshop, within 2 to 3 days.

Diameters and variations

Three diameters, 20, 22 and 24 mm: the 20 mm for discreet wear, the 22 mm for everyday, the 24 mm as a pendant, which lets the tracery read in full.
