The Christ is an 18-karat yellow gold christening medal depicting Jesus in profile, with long hair and beard, beneath a halo marked with the cross.

A Christ in profile, beneath the cruciform nimbus

Jesus is seen in profile, turned to the right, his gaze raised. His long hair falls in waves to his shoulders, the beard is short and neat, the tunic closed with a simple collar. Behind his head, the halo is not a plain circle: it is crossed by a cross, the cruciform nimbus that Christian art has reserved for Christ since the earliest centuries, to set him apart from the saints. The background of the medal remains smooth. It is the portrait of Christ in its most classic form, that of the christening medals passed down through families, and our sculptor took great care over the hair, every lock of which catches the light.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold

Like all our gold medals, The Christ is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, for a crisp and lasting relief, then given a satin finish. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. Exclusive Manufacture Mayaud design, made in France.

Diameter, engraving and variations

The 16 mm is the christening size; the 18 mm, the classic size, the one worn for a lifetime. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. The Christ is available in gold and mother-of-pearl, in solid silver, in silver and mother-of-pearl and in gold plate, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
