Virgo Maria
Virgo Maria is an 18-karat yellow gold christening medal depicting the Virgin Mary in profile, beneath a scalloped halo, with her Latin name engraved on either side.
A Virgin Mary in profile, with delicate features
Mary is turned to the left, a veil resting on her hair and falling straight onto her shoulder; a lock of hair escapes over her forehead. Her profile is very pure, almost that of a cameo. The halo surrounding her is bordered with a scallop, a motif of small arcs, and the inscription VIRGO MARIA frames the portrait. The dress, pleated at the neckline, closes the composition. With no other ornament, this Virgin Mary medal stands on the finesse of its design; it is one of those chosen for their classicism, certain to please still in thirty years' time.
A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold
Like all our gold medals, Virgo Maria is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, for a crisp and lasting relief, then given a satin finish. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. Made in France, in our workshop.
Diameter, engraving and variations
The 16 mm is the christening size; the 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. Virgo Maria is available in gold and mother-of-pearl, in solid silver and in silver and mother-of-pearl, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
