Saint George
Saint George is an 18-karat yellow gold christening medal depicting the knight saint spearing the dragon, on horseback.
A knight who vanquishes the dragon
George, in armour with a flowing cape, gallops forward and drives his spear into the dragon writhing on the ground. The name SAINT GEORGE is engraved in an arc at the top of the medal. It is the legend of the knight who freed a princess by killing the dragon terrorising her city, which became over the centuries an image of the victory of good over evil. Saint George is the patron of knights, soldiers and several countries and cities of Europe; a spirited christening medal for a boy named George.
A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold
Like all our gold medals, Saint George is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, which gives the horse and the armour their relief, then given a satin finish. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. Exclusive Manufacture Mayaud design, registered design filed with the INPI, made in France.
Diameter, engraving and variations
The 16 mm is the christening size; the 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. Saint George is available in solid silver and in gold and mother-of-pearl, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
