The Chi-Rho Medal
In brief: the Chi-Rho is the monogram of Christ, formed by the Greek letters chi (Χ) and rho (Ρ), the first two letters of Christos; Constantine made it his emblem in 312. Read our guide to the Chi-Rho.
Le Chrisme is a christening medal in jewellery-grade mother-of-pearl rimmed in 18-karat gold, bearing the monogram of Christ between Alpha and Omega.
The monogram of Christ, in mother-of-pearl
The interlaced Chi and Rho, Alpha to the left, Omega to the right: Constantine's sign and the words of Revelation, "the beginning and the end", engraved in natural mother-of-pearl whose whiteness gives the monogram the softness of a cameo. The gold rim closes the medal.
