Saint Joseph and the Child
Saint Joseph and the Child is an 18-karat yellow gold christening medal depicting Joseph carrying the Christ Child in his arms, a lily in hand.
A father who carries the Child
Joseph, haloed, in three-quarter view, holds the Christ Child against him, also haloed, who rests his hand on his shoulder and looks at him. In his other hand, Joseph holds a stem of lily, a symbol of his purity and faithfulness. It is the image of Saint Joseph, foster father, who protected and raised the Child without being his father by blood. Patron of fathers and of workers, he is a natural choice for a christening medal given by or for a father.
A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold
Like all our gold medals, Saint Joseph and the Child is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, for a crisp and lasting relief, then given a satin finish. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. Exclusive Manufacture Mayaud design, registered design filed with the INPI, made in France.
Diameter, engraving and variations
The 16 mm is the christening size; the 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. Saint Joseph and the Child is available in gold and mother-of-pearl and in solid silver, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
