In brief: Saint Michael, whose name means "Who is like God?" (Quis ut Deus), is the archangel who slays the dragon; celebrated on 29 September, he is one of the protector saints of France. Read our guide to the Saint Michael medal.

This Archangel Saint Michael is a gold-plated medal depicting the archangel in full momentum, his lance raised over the dragon, in a mountain landscape.

An archangel in the thick of battle

Michael is seen in three-quarter view, in full momentum, a lance brandished over the dragon writhing at his feet, wings spread behind him; mountains close the horizon. The composition, livelier than our first Saint Michael with the shield, captures the moment of combat rather than the victory won. A medal for those who love scenes in action, which keeps the protective meaning of every image of Saint Michael slaying the dragon. Exclusive Manufacture Mayaud model, registered with the INPI.

Mayaud gold plate

This medal is made in Mayaud gold plate: a French-made solid gilded brass base, struck under the same engraved die as the gold version, covered with a 3-micron layer of 18-karat (750/1000) gold. Made in our Paris workshop.

Diameter, engraving and variations

Offered in 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. This Archangel Saint Michael is also available in solid yellow gold, in gold and mother-of-pearl, in solid silver and in silver and mother-of-pearl; see also our Saint Michael with the shield.
