Young Virgin Medal - Ora Pro Nobis
Ora Pro Nobis is an 18-karat yellow gold christening medal depicting a very young Virgin Mary, hands joined, between a branch of lilies and the words of the prayer: pray for us.
A young Virgin Mary in prayer
Mary is seen in three-quarter view, turned to the right, a veil resting on her hair and falling to her shoulders. She has the face of a very young girl, lips parted, eyes raised; her joined hands are lifted to her chin. To her left, a branch of lilies climbs along the edge of the medal; above her, in an arc, the inscription ORA PRO NOBIS, the response given to each invocation of the litany. The composition is one of the richest among our Virgin Mary medals: a portrait, a flower, a prayer, within 18 mm.
A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold
Like all our gold medals, Ora Pro Nobis is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, which renders the lily, the letters and the hands with the same crispness, then given a satin finish. The gold weight is 2.90 g in 18 mm. Made in France, in our workshop.
Engraving and variations
Offered in 18 mm, the classic size for a christening medal, the one worn for a lifetime. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. Ora Pro Nobis is available in gold and mother-of-pearl, in solid silver, in silver and mother-of-pearl and in gold plate, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
