The Virgin of the Lilies is a christening medal in 18-karat yellow gold depicting the Virgin Mary in profile, holding a stem of lily in bloom against her.

A Virgin Mary and her flower

Mary is seen in profile, turned to the left, a veil resting on her hair and falling to her shoulder, a halo of a single line behind her head. Eyes lowered, she holds with both hands, against her breast, a stem of lily whose flower opens at the height of her shoulder. The lily is Mary's flower: the angel of the Annunciation carries it, and it speaks of purity. Here it is not the angel who brings it, it is Mary who keeps it, as one keeps a promise. The gesture of the hands, closed around the stem, is the most finely worked part of the relief. Exclusive creation of Manufacture Mayaud, registered design.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold

Like all our gold medals, the Virgin of the Lilies is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, for a crisp and lasting relief, then given a satin finish. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. Made in France, in our workshop.

Diameter, engraving and variations

The 16 mm is the christening size; the 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse accommodates an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. The Virgin of the Lilies is available in gold and mother-of-pearl and in solid silver, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
