Virgin of the Immaculate Conception Medal

The Immaculate Conception is an 18-karat yellow gold christening medal depicting the Virgin Mary with her hands joined over a rosary, as she appeared at Lourdes.

A Virgin Mary with a rosary

Mary is seen in three-quarter view, a veil resting on her hair and framing her face, a halo drawn in a single line behind her head. She joins her hands before her, and between her fingers hangs a rosary whose cross falls onto the tunic. Her eyes, slightly lowered, turn towards the one looking at her. It is the image of Our Lady of Lourdes, who named herself "the Immaculate Conception" before Bernadette, in 1858, a rosary on her arm. Our sculptor has kept its gentleness and youth; the drapery of the tunic and the veil, very ample, gives the portrait its bearing. A Virgin Mary medal much loved for a christening, and a natural choice for a family attached to Lourdes.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold

Like all our gold medals, the Immaculate Conception is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, which gives the beads of the rosary their crispness, then given a satin finish. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. Made in France, in our workshop.

Diameter, engraving and variations

The 16 mm is the christening size; the 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. The Immaculate Conception is available in gold and mother-of-pearl and in solid silver, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
