Virgo Immaculata is an 18-karat yellow gold christening medal depicting the Immaculate Virgin full-length, within a starry mandorla, surrounded by a Latin prayer and an ornate frame.

A Virgin Mary full-length, among the stars

Mary stands upright, face on, her hands open and turned downwards in the gesture of the Immaculate Virgin, that of the Miraculous Medal. She occupies the centre of a mandorla, that almond of light strewn with stars, around which runs the inscription S. MARIA IMMAC. ORA PRO NOBIS: Holy Mary Immaculate, pray for us. The whole is set within a square frame whose corners are adorned with scrollwork and letters, like an illuminated manuscript. It is the most architectural of our Virgin Mary medals, the one that most recalls the pilgrimage medals of old, and it demands a strike of great precision.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold

Like all our gold medals, Virgo Immaculata is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, the only technique able to render the stars, the letters and the scrollwork with such crispness, then given a satin finish. The gold weight is 2.95 g in 18 mm. Made in France, in our workshop.

Engraving and variations

Offered in 18 mm, the classic size for a christening medal, the one worn for a lifetime. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. Virgo Immaculata is also available in gold and mother-of-pearl, in a version carved on both sides whose reverse bears the monogram of Mary, and in solid silver, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
