Virgo Luminosa is a christening medal in 18-karat yellow gold depicting the Virgin Mary alone, her eyes lowered, beneath a great radiant halo that gives her her name: the luminous Virgin.

A Virgin Mary bathed in light

Mary is seen in three-quarter view, an airy veil elegantly resting on her hair, of which a wavy lock can be glimpsed on her forehead, and falling in broad folds over her shoulders. Her eyelids are lowered, her face calm, almost smiling; her dress is closed by a finely beaded collar. Behind her, a halo engraved in tight, very fine rays fills almost the entire upper part of the medal and gives the portrait a light that seems to come from within. This is a Virgin without attribute or inscription: only a contemplative face and this radiance. A Virgin Mary medal that suits every age, and that one keeps. A sculpture of great beauty.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold

Like all our gold medals, Virgo Luminosa is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, which renders the rays of the halo in crisp lines and the face in relief, and is then satin-finished. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. Made in France, in our workshop.

Diameter, engraving and variations

The 16 mm is the christening size; the 18 mm, the classic size, the one worn for a lifetime. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. Virgo Luminosa is available in gold and mother-of-pearl and in solid silver, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
