The south rose window of Notre-Dame de Paris, in jewellery-grade mother-of-pearl

The medal takes up the great rose of the south transept of Notre-Dame de Paris, the Rose du Midi, given by Saint Louis around 1260 and restored by Viollet-le-Duc in the nineteenth century. Our sculptor transposed its design into mother-of-pearl: at the centre, a quatrefoil; around it, the stone spokes that divide the rose into two rings of tracery, Gothic trefoils and quatrefoils, out to the outer circle. Every spoke, every lobe is carved in mother-of-pearl, whose depth and translucency render the light of stained glass as no metal can. The 18-karat yellow gold rim closes the rose, as stone closes the window.

A world first by Manufacture Mayaud

Manufacture Mayaud was the first to offer the Notre-Dame de Paris rose window in mother-of-pearl and 750/1000 gold. To this day, we are the only workshop in the world to make cathedral rose windows in jewellery-grade mother-of-pearl: a complex know-how, developed in our Paris workshop through relentless work, and of which we are very proud. This model, like all our rose windows, is a registered design filed with the INPI. A Notre-Dame de Paris rose window medal is a jewel given for a christening, a birth, a birthday, or simply to carry a piece of Paris with you; it appeals as much to lovers of the cathedral as to those seeking a christening medal off the beaten track.

Natural extra-white mother-of-pearl of jewellery grade, carved in our workshop and set in an 18-karat yellow gold rim, bail included, from 1.40 g of gold in 20 mm to 1.70 g in 26 mm. Rim in polished finish. 100% made in France, in Paris.

Diameters and variations

Four diameters, 20, 22, 24 and 26 mm: the larger the medal, the more finely the tracery of the rose can be read. The Notre-Dame de Paris rose window is also available in openwork solid 18-karat gold, in openwork solid silver, in silver and mother-of-pearl and in a beaded-rim edition.
