The abbey church of Saint-Ouen, in Rouen, was raised from the fourteenth to the sixteenth century for the Benedictine abbey; its roses are among the finest of Norman Gothic. This second model takes up a flamboyant rose: from a central heart spring hearts and flame-shaped mouchettes, doubling into soufflets and branching to the edge, with small quatrefoils in the intervals. It is the most abundant design of our two Rouen rose windows, and one of the most delicate to carve in mother-of-pearl, whose translucency renders the light of stained glass; the gold rim closes the rose. The know-how of Mayaud rose windows

Manufacture Mayaud is the only workshop in the world to make cathedral rose windows in jewellery-grade mother-of-pearl. Each rose window takes many hours of work: the tracery is drawn from the rose itself, then carved and engraved in mother-of-pearl at the scale of a medal, without simplifying anything. It is a complex know-how, developed in our Paris workshop, of which we are very proud, and which we inaugurated with the Notre-Dame de Paris rose window, the first ever offered in mother-of-pearl and 750/1000 gold. Natural extra-white mother-of-pearl of jewellery grade, set in an 18-karat yellow gold rim, bail included, from 1.40 g of gold in 20 mm to 1.70 g in 26 mm. Rim in polished finish.

Diameters and variations

Four diameters, 20, 22, 24 and 26 mm: the larger the medal, the more finely the flamboyant tracery can be read. This Rouen rose window is also available in silver and mother-of-pearl; the first, rayonnant model takes up another rose of the abbey church. To be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Rouen rose window medal be engraved? Yes: the reverse of the mother-of-pearl is smooth and takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package.

Which diameter to choose? The 20 mm for a christening or a child, the 22 or 24 mm for everyday wear, the 26 mm to read the tracery in all its fineness, as a pendant.
