The Madonna

The Madonna is a medal in jewellery-grade mother-of-pearl rimmed in solid silver, bringing together the Virgin and Child after Botticelli within the tracery of the Notre-Dame de Paris rose window.

At the centre, Mary holds the Child close against her, her face inclined towards him, in a composition inspired by Sandro Botticelli's Virgin and Child. Our sculptor took this portrait from our historic collection and surrounded it with the radiating tracery of the Notre-Dame de Paris rose window, whose flame-shaped lancets draw a halo of Gothic light around the scene. Two Manufacture Mayaud skills thus meet on a single medal: the carving of the Madonna, and the transposition into mother-of-pearl of a cathedral rose window's tracery, a technique for which we are the only workshop in the world.

Natural extra-white mother-of-pearl of jewellery grade, carved in our workshop and set in a rhodium-plated 925/1000 silver rim, bail included. Rim in polished finish. Made to order in our Paris workshop, within 2 to 3 days.

Diameters and variations

Three diameters, 20, 22 and 24 mm: the 20 mm for discreet wear, the 22 mm for everyday, the 24 mm as a pendant, which lets the tracery read at its finest. The Madonna is also available in mother-of-pearl and 18-karat gold, to be worn on a solid silver trace chain.
