Rosa Mystica is a christening medal in 18-karat yellow gold depicting the Virgin Mary in profile, surrounded by a crown of foliage and her engraved Latin title: Mystical Rose.

A Virgin Mary crowned with foliage

Mary is seen in profile, turned to the right, a veil resting on her hair and falling over her shoulder; a halo drawn in a fine line encircles her head. Her dress, with its embroidered collar, gathers into folds at the neckline. Around the portrait, our sculptor has engraved a crown of leaves running along the entire edge of the medal, and the inscription ROSA MYSTICA on either side of the face. Mystical Rose is one of the titles the Litany of Loreto gives to Mary: the rose without thorns, an image of her purity. The crown of foliage takes up this theme of the garden; it also gives the medal a frame, the bearing of an antique medallion.

A christening medal struck in the traditional way in 18-karat gold

Like all our gold medals, Rosa Mystica is made by stamping: the 750/1000 gold blank is struck under an engraved die, which gives the foliage and the lettering their crispness and the face its relief, and is then satin-finished. The gold weight is 2.30 g in 16 mm and 2.90 g in 18 mm. Made in France, in our workshop.

Diameter, engraving and variations

The 16 mm is the christening size; the 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. Rosa Mystica is available in gold and mother-of-pearl, in solid silver and in silver and mother-of-pearl, to be worn on an 18-karat yellow gold trace chain.
