A Virgin and Child with the Lamb, after Bouguereau
Mary is seen in profile, a long veil resting on her hair; she lowers her eyes towards the Child, nestled in her arms, who holds the Agnus Dei, the Lamb of God, against him. This composition is inspired by The Virgin with a Lamb, a painting made in 1903 by William Bouguereau. The lamb recalls the name John the Baptist gives to Jesus at the banks of the Jordan, on the day of his baptism: the link with the christening medal is direct.

This medal is made in Mayaud gold plate: a base of solid gilded brass, made in France, coated with a layer of 18-karat (750/1000) gold 3 microns thick. Crafted in our Paris workshop.
