Virgin and Child

This Virgin and Child is a gold-plated christening medal depicting a gesture every parent recognises: the child nestled in his mother's arms, raising his hand to her face.

Mary wears a soft veil over her hair, falling on her shoulders, and inclines her face towards her son. The child is nestled in her arms, held by her hand; he looks at her and rests his little hand near her face, as if to draw her gaze to him. Two halos of a fine line overlap behind the heads. Our sculptor took care over the drapery of the tunic and veil, whose folds frame the scene and lead the eye to the two faces. A Virgin and Child very classic in composition, and very lively in detail.

Mayaud gold plate

This medal is made in Mayaud gold plate: a French-made solid gilded brass base, struck under the same engraved die as the gold version, covered with a 3-micron layer of 18-karat (750/1000) gold. Made in our Paris workshop.

Diameter, engraving and variations

Offered in 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. This Virgin and Child is also available in solid yellow gold and in gold and mother-of-pearl.
