Silver Medals
Our solid silver medals are struck under the same dies as our gold medals: same relief, same crispness, on a thicker medal. Rhodium-plated, they do not tarnish and need no care.
The same relief as gold
A quality silver medal is struck under the same engraved die as its gold version: faces and details are identical. What changes is the thickness: the silver medal is thicker, which gives it more substance, around 3.60 g of silver in 18 mm.
Rhodium-plated: silver that does not tarnish
925/1000 silver naturally tarnishes in contact with air. Our silver medals are therefore rhodium-plated: a thin layer of rhodium, a precious metal of the platinum family, protects the silver and gives it a bright, lasting white. No care is needed.
Sizes, engraving and chain
18 mm is the classic christening medal size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, done in Paris. To be worn on a solid silver chain. The same subjects exist in 18-karat yellow gold and in silver and mother-of-pearl.
Frequently asked questions
Does a silver christening medal tarnish?
No: our solid silver medals are rhodium-plated; the rhodium protects the silver from oxidation and keeps it bright white, with no care.
Does a silver medal have the same relief as gold?
Yes: it is struck under the same engraved die; the relief is identical, the medal is simply thicker.
