Virgin and Child Medal La Maternité
In solid silver, La Maternité is the christening medal of the first days: a swaddled newborn against its mother, and Mary's gaze raised to Heaven.
A Virgin and Child in silver
The Child, tiny, wrapped in swaddling clothes, rests against the breast of Mary, who holds him with both hands and raises her eyes to Heaven to thank the One who must be thanked for the arrival of this so unique child. The two radiant halos, one in straight rays, the other fuller, take on a soft glow in the satin-finished silver, without harshness. A medal often given to a young mother as much as to the newborn.
A christening medal struck in the traditional way in solid silver
Like our gold medals, La Maternité is produced by stamping: the solid 925/1000 silver blank is struck under the same engraved die as the gold version, which gives exactly the same relief, crisp and lasting, then satin-finished to soften the reflections. The silver weighs 3.60 g in 18 mm. Made in France, in our workshop.
Diameter, engraving and variations
Offered in 18 mm, the classic size of the christening medal, the one that is worn for life. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. La Maternité is also available in 18-karat yellow gold, in gold and mother-of-pearl and in silver and mother-of-pearl, to be worn on a trace or curb chain in solid silver.
