Notre-Dame d'Amiens, the largest cathedral in France, has three rose windows, each with its own name: the Rose de la Mer on the west facade, the Rose du Ciel to the south, the Rose des Vents to the north. The medal takes up the Rose de la Mer, the great flamboyant rose of the facade, completed around 1500: from the heart, lancets and mouchettes, those flame-shaped forms of late Gothic, radiate and branch out to the edge in a network of extreme fineness. Our sculptor has kept every curve, legible from 20 mm. Carved in mother-of-pearl, this foliage of stone takes on the translucency of stained glass, and the silver rim melts into its whiteness.

Manufacture Mayaud is the only workshop in the world to make cathedral rose windows in jewellery-grade mother-of-pearl, a complex know-how inaugurated with the Notre-Dame de Paris rose window, the first ever offered in mother-of-pearl and 750/1000 gold. Each rose window takes many hours of work in our Paris workshop: the tracery is drawn from the rose itself, then carved and engraved in mother-of-pearl at the scale of a medal, without simplifying anything. Registered design filed with the INPI, 100% made in France.

Diameters and variations

Four diameters, 20, 22, 24 and 26 mm: the larger the medal, the more finely the flamboyant tracery can be read. The Amiens rose window is also available in mother-of-pearl and 18-karat gold. To be worn on a solid silver trace chain.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Amiens rose window medal be engraved? Yes: the reverse of the mother-of-pearl is smooth and takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package.

Which diameter to choose? The 20 mm for a christening or a child, the 22 or 24 mm for everyday wear, the 26 mm to read the tracery in all its fineness, as a pendant.
