Botticelli Madonna

The Botticelli Madonna is a gold-plated christening medal taking up a Virgin and Child by Sandro Botticelli: Mary inclines her face towards her son, who raises his hand to her cheek.

A Virgin and Child from Florence

Mary's veil, edged with an engraved border, falls in soft folds around a face with lowered eyelids. The Child, nestled against her, rests his hand on her cheek and looks at her. Two halos of a simple line close the composition. Here is what makes Botticelli, painter of Medici Florence in the fifteenth century: the pure line of the faces, the slightly grave gentleness of the Madonnas, that restrained tenderness that made his Virgin and Child paintings the best loved of the Renaissance. Our sculptor kept the essential, the Child's caress and the inclined face.

Mayaud gold plate

This medal is made in Mayaud gold plate: a French-made solid gilded brass base, struck under the same engraved die as the gold version, covered with a 3-micron layer of 18-karat (750/1000) gold. Made in our Paris workshop.

Diameter, engraving and variations

Offered in 18 mm, the classic size. The smooth reverse takes an engraving, first name and date, carried out in the workshop with the engraving package. The Botticelli Madonna is also available in solid yellow gold, in gold and mother-of-pearl, in solid silver, in silver and mother-of-pearl and in an Excellence version in gold.
